Arizonans need lower costs for everyday living.
The Affordability Agenda can make Arizona more affordable by holding corporations accountable and lowering the cost of housing, medicine, groceries, and utilities.
The Problem
Corporations are getting richer while hardworking Arizonans struggle to keep up with the rising cost of living. It shouldn't be this way.
Pharmaceutical middlemen profited $7 billion dollars over 5 years from price-gouging prescription medication.
Health insurers process claims through automated software that makes it easier to deny valid claims—saving them $11 billion annually.
Invitation Homes profited $2.6 billion in 2024, a corporation which owns 9,200 rentals in Phoenix.
The Solution
The Affordability Agenda
Arizonans work hard for the opportunity to have a safe place to call home, afford a decent living, and get good healthcare. However, because of the affordability crisis, this has become out of reach for the middle class. Leaders at the Capitol must take action to lower the cost of everyday needs for Arizonans by addressing the following priorities.
Stop Unfair Energy Price Hikes

Protect Consumers from Higher Energy Costs Act
Data centers should pay for the energy costs they accrue—not everyday Arizonans. This bill will require large energy utility users, like data centers, to pay for their new infrastructure and energy usage to prevent those costs from raising your utility rates.
Rein in Data Center Subsidies Act
Arizona data centers get tax handouts from the state for the construction and maintenance of data centers. This bill will cap the tax credits data centers receive and divert those tax dollars to help everyday Arizonans pay their electric bills.
Make Single-Family Housing Affordable

Stop Corporate Homebuyers Act
Corporate homebuyers are buying up Arizona homes and reselling at a higher price just to rake in record profits. Limiting the amount of single-family homes corporations can buy in a year will increase affordable housing for everyday Arizonans.
Housing for Arizonans First Act
Single-family housing can be more affordable by implementing a waiting period for corporations before they can purchase a single-family home. This will allow Arizonans to have a fair shot at buying a home before corporations can outbid them with cash offers.
Lower Prescription Drug Costs

Stop Big Pharma Takeover Act
A big pharmaceutical corporation owning both a pharmacy and a Pharmacy Benefit Manager allows for market manipulation and more price-gouging. This bill will prohibit big Pharma from owning both simultaneously, enabling competition that will lower prescription drug costs.
Stop Price-Gouging Medicine Act
Prescriptions can be more affordable by making it illegal for a medicine manufacturer to engage in price-gouging of an essential off-patent or generic drug.
Lower Grocery Store Prices

Fair Price Act
Grocery supply should not be more expensive for small business grocers than large corporate grocers for the same quantity of product. Enacting a ban on higher price coercion between a supplier and a competitor to ensure grocery prices are fair between all groceries can lower the cost of food by leveling the playing field for small grocers.
Stop Food Deserts Act
Arizonans should have nearby access to food but greedy corporate monopolies create food deserts by blocking the opening of grocery stores on the site of a former grocery store to limit competition. Prohibiting greedy competitors from placing these obstacles will increase food access and lower the cost of groceries.
Stop Insurers From Denying People Owed Coverage

Fair Claims Accountability Act
Greedy health insurance companies wrongfully deny valid claims and fail to properly assist consumers with their claims. Expanding the state's assistance to those who have wrongfully denied insurance claims and increasing penalties on insurance companies who regularly deny valid claims can make healthcare more accessible and affordable.
